FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
A Different Kind of Candidate — Cynthia Moore Acclaimed as UCP Candidate for Calgary-Elbow
CALGARY, AB — September 4, 2026 — Cynthia Moore has been acclaimed as the United Conservative Party candidate for Calgary-Elbow. A different kind of candidate, Moore brings a unique combination of political experience, community leadership, philanthropy and deep involvement in Alberta’s arts and culture sector.
A former President of the United Conservative Party, Moore has extensive experience in conservative politics — but it is her work outside of politics, combined with her deep roots as a resident of Elbow, that she says will help define the kind of MLA she wants to be.
“I’m proud of my conservative roots, but I also bring a different perspective to the table,” said Moore.
“I’ve spent years working with artists, charities, community organizations and people from all walks of life. Strong communities are built when we bring people together and collaborate, and that’s the kind of representative I want to be.”
Moore currently serves as Chair of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Chair of the Real Estate Council of Alberta. She has a long history of charitable and community involvement.
Moore says her campaign will focus on strong conservative economic leadership while also championing the neighbourhoods, families, businesses and cultural institutions that make Calgary-Elbow one of Alberta’s most unique constituencies.
“Calgary-Elbow deserves an MLA who will be visible, accessible and deeply involved in the community. This isn’t like other communities, you really have to live here to understand it,” said Moore. “Being acclaimed is an honour, but now the real work begins. I’m ready to listen, show up and earn the trust of the people I hope to represent.”
